Farewell Tour... Last Time in Cleveland!
As the U.S. Air Force prepares the iconic A-10 Thunderbolt II for retirement in the next three to five years, the A-10C Thunderbolt II Demonstration Team has announced that 2024 will be its final air show season. The first Cleveland appearance of the A-10 was in 1977 and is a part of the Cleveland National Air Show’s history performing a total of nineteen times.
Low and loud…the A-10C Thunderbolt II Tactical Demonstration will roar over Burke Lakefront Airport showing its extreme capabilities through exceptional aerial maneuvers. The demonstration profile includes combat maneuvers of constant changes in airspeed, altitude, heading, and bank angle.
The A-10C Thunderbolt II is the first U.S. Air Force aircraft designed for close air support of ground forces. The A-10 Thunderbolt II is an ugly beast (thus its nickname: Warthog or Hog), but "hog drivers" think highly of it because of its ability to remain aloft after absorbing punishment from enemy aircraft.
Major Lindsay “MAD” Johnson is the A-10 Demonstration Team Pilot and Commander of a 10-person team. She is responsible for showcasing the A-10 Thunderbolt II at over 20 airshows around the country, as well as internationally.
