Big Red!
Making her Cleveland debut, Susan Dacy will be flying her Super Stearman, “Big Red”!
Growing up attending air shows, Susan loved the big, loud biplanes. She learned to fly at 16 in a Piper Cub but was slowly working on her own rebuildable Stearman Project. After attending Southern Illinois University, Susan pursued various flying jobs all over the country before ending up with American Airlines. She retired as an International 787 Dreamliner Captain with over 39,000 hours logged.
“Big Red” started out as a World War II trainer but has been outfitted with some air show worthy upgrades including a 450-horsepower engine, inverted fuel and oil modifications, and more. “Big Red” flies through barrel rolls, slow rolls, Cuban eights, etc. in a style that is reminiscent of the barnstorming era.
