U.S. Navy Blue Angels Jet Demonstration Team

Altitude with Attitude!

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will rock Cleveland on Labor Day Weekend as headliners of the 2012 Cleveland National Air Show presented by Discount Drug Mart.
Each show day the six "Blues" demonstration pilots will blaze across the skies in their dark blue and yellow-striped F/A-18 Hornets. The Blue Angels flight demonstration exhibits choreographed refinements of skills possessed by all naval aviators. It includes the graceful aerobatic maneuvers of the four-plane Diamond Formation, in concert with the fast-paced, high-performance maneuvers of its two Solo Pilots. Finally, the team illustrates the pinnacle of precision flying, performing maneuvers locked as a unit in the renowned, six-jet Delta Formation. Cleveland is one of only 35 show sites to host the popular Blues in 2012.

C-130 Hercules "fat albert" demonstration
Introducing FAAAAAAAAAT Albert!
The U. Navy Blue Angels support aircraft "Fat Albert" will perform a gravity defying demonstration that will leave air show fans in awe. Fat Albert cruises at a speed of more than 320 knots (approximately 360 miles per hour) at 27,000 feet. Four Allison turboprop engines, which produce more than 16,000 shaft-horsepower, provide Fat Albert Airlines with the power to land and depart on runways as short as 2,500 feet.
An all-Marine Corps crew of three officers and five enlisted personnel operate the Lockheed-Martin C-130T Hercules, affectionately known as Fat Albert Airlines. Fat Albert joined the team in 1970 and flies more than 140,000 miles each season. It carries more than 40 maintenance and support personnel, their gear and enough spare parts and communication equipment to complete a successful air show. For more information and to go inside the demo where you can experience the maneuvers from inside the cockpit: www.blueangels.navy.mil/

Back By Popular Demand!
Sean D. Tucker is one of the world's premier aerobatic pilots and a living legend. He has been flying airshows world-wide since the mid-70's and performed in front of more than 80 million fans. jane wicker
Swing Time Wing Waking
Bringing a bit of the Golden Age of Aviation to Cleveland, Jane Wicker's wing walking performance is a throw-back to the Barnstorming of the 20's and 30's. But don't be fooled by the era…wing walkers were always trying to out-do one another and Jane is no different. She is the only female wing walker in North America that not only hangs upside down from the N strut of her 450 HP Stearman, but also sits on the bottom of the airplane during an inverted pass. To learn more about Jane and her daring wing walking at www.wingwalk.org/index.html
shockwave jet truck
World's Fastest Triple Engine Jet Truck
Cleveland's favorite dragster is back...Shockwave Jet Truck! Shockwave runs over 300 mph racing airplanes at airshows; holds the world record in a quarter mile for trucks at 256 mph in just 6.36 seconds; and holds the world record for full size trucks at 376 mph as recorded by Guinness Book of World Records. At 36,000 horsepower, the ShockWave has enough power to accelerate at 3 Gs vertical, which is as much as the Space Shuttle!
Air Show fans will watch in awe as the flame- tipped semi scorches the runway as it tries to outrace a speeding airplane. The roar of the turbines always brings the crowd to its feet.
aurora stearman
Thundering Aerial Ballet

Performing a thundering aerial ballet, Aurora is a beautifully restored 450HP Stearman. “Aurora” was the Roman Goddess of the Sunrise. With her beautiful red and yellow sunburst wings, Aurora paints a picture of the rising sun as she climbs and dances in the sky. Not only pretty…Aurora roars to life and produces 500 HP on takeoff. She claws for the sky and gives a distinctive growl…while producing large smoke trails.
b-17 flying fortess "yankee lady"
WWII History Takes to the Skies
The unmistakable sight and roar of the B-17's four engines brings back memories of WWII in a heartbeat for many veterans. The emotional bond between aircraft and crew was forged during the thousands of times they entered into battle.
The Yankee Air Museum's award winning B-17G Yankee Lady is the finest example of this type of aircraft still flying in the world today. The Boeing B-17, nicknamed the "Flying Fortress", was a long range heavy bomber that was given the task of destroying enemy war facilities through precision strategic bombardment.
Be sure to check out the bomber's nose art...Yankee Lady.
The inspiration for many of the "Bomber Girls" was pin-up art, from magazines such as Esquire. Nose art served as the aviator's unique calling card and as personal escorts during missions of great danger and uncertainty.
Take a step back in history as you learn more about this magnificent aircraft. For more information and photos visit: www.yankeeairmuseum.org/
